Deliveries to Carapugna, Crow Swamp and Tarkedia ceased at the end of November. Challambra Swamp is continuing.

Releases recommence

Drier conditions in recent days have meant that passing flows withheld at Lake Lonsdale whilst the river was flowing are commencing. Regulated releases are also recommencing for the MacKenzie River.

Crow Swamp (Tarranyurk), Sawpit Swamp (Murtoa), Wal Wal Swamp (Wal Wal), Tarkedia (Sheep Hills), Challambra Swamp (Warracknabeal) and Carapugna (Watchem) are receiving environmental water from the pipeline. Visit http://wcma.pozi.com/ to find the exact location.

Don't forget to check out the great story about the finding of the Peron's Tree Frog by Russell Peucker, Kevin and Jenny Bolwell at Burnt Creek in this week's local newpapers. Stay tuned for the launch of the new version of the Wimmera CMA's Glovebox Guide to Wimmera Frogs.

Wimmera River Flows

Jul 27, 2017, 11:00 AM
Releases are planned to commence for the Wimmera River from Taylor's Lake on 31 July. They are to be 30 ML/d to provide habitat and water quality improvements for native fish and other fauna.

MacKenzie River Flows

Jul 1, 2017, 00:00 AM
Low flows (10 ML/day) and freshes (45 ML/day) are planned for July for the MacKenzie River at Distribution Heads. These flows are important for breeding of Obscure Galaxias (a small-bodied native fish) and potentially helping juvenile platypuses disperse into new habitat.

River flows may be due to environmental watering, natural (unregulated flows) and/or water transfers between storages.
