25th Anniversary of Landcare Grants

The Victorian Government has made available $1000-$5000 grants for Landcare groups and networks across the state to mark this milestone.

The objective of the grant is to provide opportunities for the local Landcare community to celebrate the 25th anniversary milestone through events or activities that:

  1. bring volunteers together to undertake works that improve the health of our land, water and biodiversity, and
  2. engage people who may not have previously been involved

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be:

  1. a Landcare group/network or a community-based environmental group with a primary focus on private land
  2. incorporated, or sponsored by an incorporated organisation

Projects must include an on-ground works component.

Projects must be able to be completed and reported to CMAs by 31 October 2012.

Examples of eligible activities

On-ground activities to improve the health of our land, water and biodiversity such as:

  • Community planting days
  • Habitat restoration works
  • Weed control activities

In combination with on-ground activities, projects can incorporate commemorative activities that look backwards and/or forward such as:

  • Group histories
  • Information days
  • Case studies
  • DVDs
  • Photographic displays/posters (or similar)
  • Innovative approaches to encourage wider community participation in Landcare eg: Projects that engage young people in Landcare Projects that make direct links with local schools, TAFEs and universities
