The impact of salt is one of the greatest environmental challenges facing the Wimmera and Murry Darling Basin in the 21st Century. This short animated film 'Fresh & Salty' (Low / High Quality) takes a humorous, new and innovative approach to exploring salinity in our environment. With the Wimmera landscape as a backdrop, Natimuk-based artists Dave Jones, Mary French and Hannah French use delightful characters to tell the story. The artists created 'Fresh & Salty' in partnership with the Wimmera CMA, Regional Arts Victoria and with funding support from the Bureau or Rural Sciences Community Salinity Monitoring Project. The film was created for Regional Arts Victoria's 'Fresh & Salty' project with support from the Australian Government, through the Regional Arts fund, Helen Macpherson Smith Trust and Vic Health. Water... it's only part of the story As part of the Fresh and Salty film project, Wimmera CMA also worked with Natimuk based artists Dave Jones, Mary French and Hannah French to create a series of television advertisements 'Water... it's only part of the story'. These three animated advertisements (Low / High Quality) continue the fresh and salty theme with appearances from some of the 'Fresh & Salty' characters plus a few extras. The advertisements come to life through the voices of Wimmera children and adults and provide insight into what Wimmera people value about their environment. * Film and advertisement content is rated for children aged 7 and over.
